Social media is one of the best ways to kick-start any campaign when it comes to gaining the attention of the millennial generations. But with so many options out there for you to choose from, knowing where to start can feel a little overwhelming. Here are some great tips from our social media partner who explains where to focus your efforts when needing to gain the attentions of the busiest generation yet.

Millennials are visual learners - set aside budget to create snappy videos and infographics to help explain your message. YouTube is the second most popular search engine after Google which is a staggering fact in itself. Not only is YouTube an engaging platform, it's where your audience are already sourcing information from so be sure to make time to create an engaging channel for your audience to engage with.

It's all about the experience - Forbes.com was quoted saying that about 70 percent of millennials "favour cool experiences over great products'. Create desire for "enriching experiences" that make them "feel important.” Take an 'eating-out' experience. It's my strong opinion that if food at a restaurant is not that great, but any issues are handled professionally, your guests will return. Great food, and not feeling loved or appreciated is a recipe for disaster so make the experience the priority always.

Tweet tweet - 1/3 of 25-34 year olds use Twitter so be sure to include Twitter as a key part of your campaign. Set up Tweetdeck to monitor any comments or retweets and be sure to respond to any engagements as soon as possible to keep the conversation momentum going.

15 hashtag rule - before you create a hashtag for your campaign, check to see if it is being used by anyone else. Competing against another brand should always be avoided so be focussed on creating something that you can hang your hat on and own. Instagram allows you to add 15 hashtags against your post so choose your hashtags wisely and remember to add them in the comments section immediately after making the post live.

Sustainable credentials - don't forget to include any sustainable credentials in your campaign messaging. Being associated with brands that care for the environment is an attractive trait for this demographic to make way for any green or sustainable news in your messaging.
